Surry Hills

How would you describe your store and the local world it sits within?

Everyday goods for the home for the people of Surry Hills. Functional and decorative products, accessible to everyone with a touch of luxury. Visit us when you need a unique gift or want to add that special item to your house.

When you’re selecting pieces, what do you instinctively respond to first — form, material, story, or something else entirely?

We look for honest products made from quality materials. If the product has been made by an artisanal factory in the mountains for 100 years then all the better!

Who or what in your local world continues to influence your eye — whether that’s a person, a place, or a daily ritual?

Monocle magazine, a good print magazine will still make you stop and consider things more deeply, sadly Monocle is one of the few left committed to print.

What keeps you inspired to continue shaping this space — year after year?

Julia and I have always loved products that have depth. Buying for the store is a pleasure.

If someone had one perfect day in your area, where would you suggest they stay, wander, and eat?

One option is to start at the lower end of Crown St, stay at the Eve Hotel, walk up the street, browse Fathom, pat some designer dogs at Love Dog, get a pavement table at Berto's Espresso, check out international fashion labels at The Standard Store and then head up to Taylor Square for a cocktail on the roof terrace of the 25Hours hotel.

Or start at the top of the street and work your way down!

Its all about Crown St.
